Work cabin for the blind and visually impaired

The work cabin 0'232 is equipped with technology and software for blind and visually impaired persons. The workplace is divided into two areas, on the left for blind and on the right for visually impaired people. Furthermore, a workstation with enlarger is located on the opposite wall.

To use this cabin you can get the key at the counter. A reservation of the cabin is not necessary at the moment. In case of special requirements, however, it is recommended to make an inquiry in advance.

In the lowered reading room of the Science Branch Library you will find two height-adjustable desks, which are also equipped with computers. You can reach the workstations directly via a ramp leading into the reading room.

The desks can be adjusted to heights between 74 and 120 cm by a small switch on the worktop.

Furthermore, one of the self loan machines is height-adjustable.

Other raised workplaces, which are not height-adjustable, are provided by the balustrade above the reading room.

Accessibility of the Erwin-Schrödinger-Zentrum

The right door of the main entrance opens automatically and a side entrance in Brook-Taylor-Str. can be opened with a button.

Parking spaces

There are two marked parking spaces for people with disabilities right next to the house in Brook Taylor Street.

Three lockers directly at the entrance are reserved for people with disabilities. Please bring your own padlock with a 5-6mm thick shackle to lock these lockers. The lockers are not accessible by wheelchair.

All lifts in the building are equipped with voice output and tactile signs. Within the library there is a lift from the ground floor to the gallery. Outside the library, an elevator connects all floors of the Erwin-Schrödinger-Zentrum.

Wheelchair-accessible restrooms are located outside the library next to the entrance to the small lecture hall and in the restroom corridor next to the lecture room. This restroom is connected by a door to the first aid room, where a couch and a lift are available.
