Open Educational Resources

Open Educational Resources (OER) are educational materials of any kind and in any medium that are published under an open licence. Such an open licence allows free access and free use, adaptation and redistribution by others with little or no restriction. Open Educational Resources can include individual materials but also complete coursework or books. Any type of media can be used. Curricula, course materials, textbooks, streaming videos, multimedia applications, podcasts - all these resources can be considered OER if they are published under an open licence. (see also: definition of OER by UNESCO)

Support and further information

The university library and the Computer and Media Service offer a first point of contact and support for all aspects of OER on a joint website: OER - Informationen für Lehrende und Studierende (so far only available in German)

There you can quickly find different entry points on the topic of OER, such as general information as well as how to search, find and publish OER materials.

You are also welcome to contact the OER team directly via e-mail: oer-support@lists.hu-berlin.de
