Ethnological Studies

Information about the Holdings

The holdings belonging to Ethnology in the Jacob-und-Wilhelm-Grimm-Zentrum are broadly conceived and contain literature from the entire range of ethnological subjects (European Ethnology, Folklore Studies, Social and Cultural Anthropology, Empirical Cultural Studies). Due to the special collection “Volks- und Völkerkunde” that was maintained from 1998 to 2015 and the departmental focus on Urbanism, Science and Technology Studies, Migration, Europeanisation and Gender, there is comprehensive literature on all relevant subjects-1 of Ethnology. In addition to that, the library also holds a large old stock of classical works from the 19th and early 20th century.

The print holdings of journals contain many journals from European countries that are otherwise unavailable in Germany. The countless electronic resources (journals, databases, e-books) are available to department members from anywhere via VPN.
