Hungarian Studies

Information about the Holdings

Since 1916, the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin has been collecting literature from and on Hungary. Over the course of the 20th centure, the subject library has received many donations from institutions and private individuals.

According to the main areas of study of the Chair for Hungarian Literature and Culture at the Department of Slavonic Studies, our profile includes Hungarian Literature, Culture and Cultural History, as well as Hungarian Language. These holdings are one of the largest collections in this field nation-wide. The library acquires international research literature (mainly in Hungarian and German / English), as well as primary literature in the original language and its German translation.

There is an increased emphasis on purchasing electronic resources (e-books, e-journals, and databases) which can be accessed by university members via VPN independent of location.

Further information can be found at Subject Holdings.
