For general questions about the user account and service area, as well as for registration and renew your library card, you can use our online consultation via Zoom.

Loan

Where?                      

preferably at one of the 4 self loan machines in the inner area of the ground floor
(with account and fee function, payment via CampusCard or MensaCard of the Studierendenwerk (student union))

When?

Mon - Fri 08:00 - 24:00 h
Sat - Sun 10:00 - 22:00 h

You will need:

Your CampusCard/library card and a PIN that you assign yourself in your user account

Loan conditions:                                                                                

Loan period: 28 days, extendable to a maximum of 182 days
Loan period HU employees: 56 days, extendable to a maximum of 182 days
Textbook collection (LBS): loan possible for HU members only
Media that cannot be borrowed are marked accordingly in Primus (online catalogue).

Renewals are only possible via the online user account or at self loan machine if there is no reservation and the maximum lending period has not yet been reached. If you have problems renewing your media, it may be because your account is about to expire. In this case, please extend the deadline of each individual medium separately.

Return and re-loan

Where?

preferably at one of the 2 return machines in the foyer

When?

Sat - Sun 10:00 - 22:00 h

You will need:

for re-loan: your CampusCard/library card and your PIN

for the return: no CampusCard/library card or PIN necessary.

Return and reborrowing items from other branch libraries:

At the moment, all books from all branch libraries can be returned and also borrowed again.

 

Stack orders and Deliveries

The HU University Library keeps part of its holdings in closed stacks. These media must be ordered.

Media in the Grimm-Zentrum basement stacks:

Deliveries: at 15:00 h on the next day of opening, orders from Friday will be delivered on Monday at 15:00 h.
Media in the external stacks in Adlershof: Orders are processed twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays). They takes place on the following day from 15:00 h.
Pick-up locations at 
Grimm-Zentrum

Out-of-house loan: Pick-up shelves next to the information desk on the inside of the ground floor (seen from the foyer on the right).
On-site use:Research reading room on the 6th floor (working places can be reserved via rara@ub.hu-berlin.de).
For microfiches and films:Media center on the 7th floor.
