Collection of theses

From its foundation until 1998 the university library collected theses from German-speaking countries. The theses may be ordered via the Online Catalogue and Primus.

The foundation of an association to support the exchange of theses in the early 19th century made it easier for the university to acquire and exchange theses. A few years later a rule was passed to make sure that every student at Prussian schools and universities delivers a copy of the thesis to the library. Since 1885 this rule is valid for other universities in Germany as well.
It covers all kinds of theses, rectorate speeches and other academic writings.

The collection also contains items from France, the Netherlands, the USA, Switzerland and Scandinavian countries.
