Location Information

The Branch Library of Foreign Languages and Literatures comprises holdings of about 249,000 volumes and 126 periodicals. It offers items on the Romance, Slavonic, Hungarian Languages and Literatures as well as on General Linguistics and Literature.

The Hungarian Studies collection is focused on Hungarian literature, culture, cultural history and language.

The Romance Studies collections contain materials on nearly all Romance languages and literatures, as well as their history and culture, in different intensity.

The Slavonic Studies collections include materials on all Slavic languages, cultures and literatures, in different intensity.

The Library of the Centre for British Studies with more than 34,000 volumes on British literature, culture, history, politics, economics, law, sociology, art and the media is also located in the August-Boeckh-Haus.

The collections on Anglo-American, Irish and Canadian languages, literatures and cultures are located in the Branch Library "Campus Nord".

The library uses open-access shelving. The shelving follows the classification system Regensburger Verbundklassifikation. Some older Romance Studies holdings as well as those of the Hungarian Studies follow specific internal classification systems. The periodicals of the Slavonic Studies are step-by-step re-shelved in the Regensburger Verbundklassifikation. The holdings of the Centre for British Studies Library are shelved according to subject matter, mainly using the HX classification scheme.
