Studying On-Site

Cloakroom

In this branch library it is allowed to bring in jackets and bags - but no food or drink (exception: water in transparent bottles). As an option, at the library entrance 189 lockers are available for use with your own padlock with diameter 5–6 mm.

Workstations

94 work stations, most of them with plug-ins for power supply, among them 20 public workstations with internet access. Internet access with a Computer and Media Service (CMS) account, WiFi for HU members resp. via Eduroam.

Group study rooms

The location has two group study rooms that can also be used for participation in digital courses with active language participation. The rooms are not locked and can be used during library opening hours without request, due to Corona by a maximum of 3 persons.

The group study room on the 1st floor is equipped with a large monitor and can be reserved for a maximum of 2 hours by entering your name in the appointment list (min. 2 persons).

Reservations are currently not necessary for the group study room on the 2nd floor.

Study carrels

7 study carrels with plug-ins for power supply, available for students and visiting scholars of the Departments of Romance studies, Slavic and Hungarian Studies, English and American Studies and the Centre for British Studies.

Book trolleys

4 lockable book trolleys, available for students and visiting scholars of the Departments of Romance studies, Slavic and Hungarian Studies, English and American Studies and the Centre for British Studies.

Scan

A book scanner and a scan tent are available on 1st floor, both free of charge.

The usage is intuitive. All you need is your smartphone and any scanner app (quick start guide for Android and iOS, in German only). Position your smartphone on the tray at the top and place a book or document in the tent. The device ensures the optimal viewing angle and consistent distance. The LED ring illuminates your texts perfectly.

You can find more information about the scan tent on the UB Blog (in German only).

Services for parents and children

Children's books, toys (please ask at the counter), colouring books and crayons, bean bags and low tables. Unfortunately, in this branch library we can not offer you a separate room.
