The Campus Nord branch library offers the following training opportunities


Regular tours and training courses at Campus Nord

The following training courses are offered regularly at Campus Nord library. Please also note the cross-branch training program of the university library.

Guided Tours

Aimed at:

First-year students and novice users of university libraries

Length:

ca. 30 - 40 min. / the course is s.t., that means it begins on the hour

Participants:

5 - 15

Meeting point:

Lounge at the entrance of Campus Nord library

Objectives:

A brief overview of services, facilities and support at the Library. The following questions are in the focus of attention:

  • Where can I register?
  • How and where can I borrow items?
  • Where can I receive help?
  • Where are the bookshelves?
  • Where are the work desks?

Prerequisite:

None

Frequency:

Frequently at the beginning of the semester

Registration:

Not necessary

Dates:

Further dates on request for groups of 5 or more.

Learning to search with Primus

Aimed at:

First-year students and novice users of university libraries

Length:

ca. 30 - 40 min. / the course is s.t., that means it begins on the hour

Participants:

5 - 15

Meeting point:

“Schulungsraum” on the second floor of Campus Nord library

Objectives:

  • About Primus
  • Tips for the efficient use of search fields and facets
  • functions of the user account which are useful for Primus searches

Approach:

Presentation

Prerequisite:

None

Frequency:

Twice a month, frequently at the beginning of the semester

Registration:

Not necessary

Dates:

Further dates on request for groups of 5 or more.

Please note that the training course Learning to Search with Primus will also be offered at Grimm-Zentrum.

 

Introduction to Citavi

Aimed at:

Students and scholars who are not familiar with the programme

Note:

HU students and employees are entitled to use Citavi via the campus license. Please note that Citavi can be used on Mac only by applying a virtualization solution for Windows. Here you will find the system prerequisite details.

Length:

ca. 2 hours. The course is s.t., that means it begins on the hour

Participants:

max. 12 persons

Meeting point:

“Schulungsraum” on the second floor of Campus Nord library

Objectives:

  • Introduction to the Citavi user interface
  • Adding diverse types of literature to Citavi
  • Evaluating literature
  • Knowledge organization
  • Generating bibliographical references and works cited lists in Word-documents

Approach:

Short presentations and various hands-on exercises

Prerequisite:

Course will be in German

Frequency:

Two times a month

Registration:

Registration takes place via the university library’s cross-branch training website.

Please note that the training course Introduction to Citavi will also be offered at Grimm-Zentrum.

 

 

Introduction to Mendeley

Aimed at:

Students and scholars who are not familiar with the programme

Length:

ca. 2 hours. The course is s.t., that means it begins on the hour

Participants:

max. 12 persons

Meeting point:

“Schulungsraum” on the second floor of Campus Nord library

Objectives:

  • Introduction to the Mendeley user interface
  • Adding diverse types of literature to Mendeley
  • Knowledge organization
  • Generating bibliographical references and works cited lists in Word-documents

Prerequisite:

Course will be in German
