Loan period, renewals
All university library sites have the same loan and renewal periods.
There are three loan statuses:
- Standard loan (shown in Primus as ‘ausleihbar’ (available for loan))
- Short-term loan
- Day loan
You can view an item’s loan status using the University Library Primus Gateway.
You can only renew items yourself in your online user account if they have not been reserved and you have not reached the maximum loan period.
From 03/02/2014, the following standard loan and renewal periods apply for the three loan statuses:
Loan status | First loan period | Can be renewed to max. |
Standard loan (shown in Primus as ‘ausleihbar’ (available for loan)) | 28 days | 84 days |
Short-term loan | 7 days | 21 days |
Day loan | 1 day (i.e. to next working day) | Not renewable |
HU staff have different loan and renewal periods:
Loan status | First loan period | Can be renewed to max. |
Standard loan (shown in Primus as ‘ausleihbar’ (available for loan)) | 56 days | 182 days |
Short-term loan | 28 days | 182 days |
Day loan | 28 days | Not renewable |
These regulations apply at all University Library locations. Only the Law School Library has different regulations relating to short-term loans. Students from other universities may borrow items with the status ‘short-term loan’ for one day only, and these items cannot be borrowed at all by external users.
Email reminder
The email reminder is a service of the University Library. It does not release you from your responsibility to actively monitor the loan status of all media borrowed on your library card. In the event that you receive no such email reminder, it does not mean that there will be any reduction/exemption of/from fees.
