Subject Holdings

The university library’s biology collection encompasses current research literature as well as historical library materials, and covers all areas of biological research. The holdings can be found at the Branch Library Campus Nord.

The book selection policy closely reflects the main research and teaching interests of the Department of Biology at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, but also touches adjacent fields due to the interdisciplinary character of the subject. The library collects literature especially in English and German.

The biological monographs are located on the 1st floor (1.OG) and shelved according to the Regensburg Classification Scheme (RVK). The call numbers begin with the letters WB to WX.

The bound journals collection can be found on the ground floor (EG), room 0.06-0.09, and is shelved in accordance with the Regensburg Classification Scheme (RVK) at the call number WA.

Recent unbound journal issues are displayed on the periodical rack on the ground floor (EG), room 0.42.

A major part of the recent literature is offered in electronic form, either as an addition to the conventional holdings or in part exclusively. HU members have access to these resources (e-books, e-journals, databases) from any location via VPN.
