Authorship and Affiliation

A clear identification of authors and their academic institutions is of great importance. Only thereby is proper attribution made possible, for example if multiple authors have the same name, in the case of a name change or when an author changes the institution. This unambiguous identification is required to be possible both for individuals and for computers.

For the identification of authors unambiguous numeric identifiers, which are used in addition to the names of authors, have become standard. Most used are ORCID identifiers.

A proper declaration of the affiliation is important for the unambiguous identification of authors' affiliations to academic institutions. It is therefore important that members of Humboldt-Universität state their affiliation in a predefined and standardised format.
