2. Submission of publisher's copies

  • We will receive 5 publisher's copies (incl. print-on-demand) of the dissertation from you as well as proof of the minimum print run of 150 copies or proof from the publisher of an open access publication.
  • If none of the evidence can be provided, we require 10 publisher copies.
  • The work must be identified as a dissertation. This is usually done in the imprint / on the back of the title page, stating the Humboldt University of Berlin, the faculty and the year of the defense and, if applicable, the original title (Zugl.: Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Faculty, Dissertation, <year of defense/dissertation>, under title.: <original title>)).
  • Please note the affiliation guidelines of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin regarding the naming of the faculty.
  • The dissertation proof can also be in continuous text, for example in the following form:
This thesis was accepted in 2016 by the Faculty of Cultural, Social, and Educational Sciences of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in the subject Classical Archaeology as a dissertation for the degree of doctor philosophiae (Dr. phil.).
  • In addition, we require the original dissertation title page (see sample title pages), which can either be integrated directly by the publisher or subsequently by the university publications office. A template for the dissertation title page can be found in the doctoral regulations that apply to you.
  • Please indicate - depending on the defense date - the president on the title page as follows:
    • until 31.12.2021: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr. Sabine Kunst, President of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin
    • from 01.01.2022 - 30.09.2022: Prof. Dr. Peter Frensch, (acting) President of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin
    • from 01.10.2022: Prof. Dr. Julia von Blumenthal, President of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin
