Reading room opening from 28.07.2020 for HU law students to write their seminar paper

On-site use of the Law Branch Library will be possible from 28.07. to 11.10.2020 exclusively for law students of the HU to write their seminar paper from 10:00 to 16:00 h under exact conditions. Unfortunately, no exceptions to this rule can be made.

  • Writers of seminar papers are assigned fixed days in precisely defined groups (divided into three groups according to the first letter of the surname) in a 3-day rhythm for the use of the reading room, the schedule can be viewed here:
Daily schedule by surname (pdf, in German only)

  • On the days assigned to you, you will have separate access to the library from 09:40 to 10:00 h via Bebelplatz. Please have an identity document available to verify your identity with the security guard. If you miss this time corridor, you will unfortunately only be able to access the library between 12:00 and 16:00 h. Please also note that if you leave the building at short notice, you will not be able to enter the library again until 12:00 h with the help of the security guard.
  • We ask you to observe the obligatory distance and hygiene rules during your stay on site. Wearing a face mask is mandatory in the buildings of the University Library. The face mask can only be taken off at the assigned working places.
  • For reasons of protection against infection, it is not possible to exchange the fixed working days, so that not all students writing their papers have to be sent to quarantine if a corona case occurs. This also applies if someone cannot take his place on a particular day for an important reason. This place must then remain free; the person concerned can only use the working place again on the next assigned date.
  • In the library you will be assigned fixed places via place cards (please do not forget your HU-Card!), which will be booked in the library account. When you finally leave the library at the end of the day, your place card must be booked out of your account.
  • According to the current regulation of the Berlin Senate, the University Library is obliged to document your presence. For this purpose please give us your telephone number. By booking the place card in your user account, you agree that your time of stay will be stored by us and that, upon request, your personal data will be transmitted to the responsible public health department for contact tracing in accordance with infection protection law.

Further information and data protection information during the pandemic period.

Anyone who does not comply with these rules can be excluded from further use of the working place!

The low-contact borrowing and return of books will continue to be possible for all HU students unchanged as in the past weeks. In addition, as an HU member you can use working places in other HU libraries, e.g. in Grimm-Zentrum or in the Campus Nord Branch Library, see also our page on the restricted restart of library services.

The Dean's Office and the library very much hope that a further opening of the working places of the Law Branch Library for all HU students will be possible again from the beginning of the winter semester 2020/21!
