Technology On-Site

The "Library of Things" includes technology and computer accessories that are available for loan. Items can be borrowed and returned during service hours at the lending desk. 

Important information in advance:

  • This is a one-day loan.
  • The equipment may leave the interior of the library after consultation, but must be returned on the same day.
  • Media devices that are managed by the Computer and Media Service (CMS) are not accepted at the service desk. Please contact the relevant CMS staff.

    Note: Our reading screens are equipped with USB-C cables as standard and are also suitable for charging. Alternatively, you will find a charging station with various connection options in our Biblounge.

iPads

iPads can be borrowed by all users with a library card.

In the Primus search portal, you can use the keywords ‘iPad Grimm Centre’ to check whether tablets are available for loan. Reservations are not possible.

Applications

  • Participation in online events (only in appropriate workspaces)
  • Access to databases and licensed e-resources
  • Actionbound tours

New apps are installed via the administrator.

Borrowing conditions

  • Only one tablet can be borrowed per person.
  • A user agreement must be signed when borrowing the equipment. The person authorised to use the equipment may be held liable for any damage or loss.
  • For data protection reasons, the tablets are operated in guest mode. It is not possible to log in with a personal Apple ID. After logging out, your data will be automatically deleted.

Conference camera

The conference camera can only be borrowed by members of Humboldt University.

Reservations can be made via BibRoomz. 

Features

The ‘Kandao Meeting Pro’ has a 360° camera, eight omnidirectional microphones and two speakers. The camera is supplied with a power supply unit and USB-C cable, two USB cables for connecting to the computer (USB-A and USB-C) and instructions in German and English.
